Partners in Education Foundation (PiE) Donates $5.5 Million to Palo Alto Public Schools

Parents and Community Join Together to Support Excellence in PAUSD Schools

(March 6, 2016) PALO ALTO, CA – This week, Palo Alto Partners in Education (PiE) announced it has presented a check for $5.5 million to the Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) for use in the 2016-17 school year. Thousands of Palo Alto families and community members gave to PiE this year to ensure continued excellence in all PAUSD schools.

This 2016 PiE donation will allow Palo Alto Unified to fund programs and staff at all 18 school sites in the district-elementary, middle and high. The funds will support social and emotional well-being programs, STEAM-focused classes and lessons, arts, and music for all students. PiE funds are allocated to every PAUSD school on a per pupil basis, by level, and allow principals to put resources towards staffing the programs that matter most for their students and families.

“To reach our goal of $5.5 million took a collective community effort,” said Asha Guha, president of the educational foundation. “Thanks to the contribution of each one of our donors and the support of our committed parent volunteers, we can give every principal in PAUSD funds for important programs at their schools.”

“The generosity of our community is overwhelming, and we are all so grateful,” said Dr. Max McGee, PAUSD Superintendent. “PiE’s gift will have a powerful, direct impact on all of our kids and enable us to realize our shared vision for our students.”
