PiE funds will provide PAUSD students with art, music, science, counselors, electives and more
PALO ALTO, CA – August 1, 2015. Palo Alto Partners in Education (PiE) announced today the launch of its 2015-16 fundraising campaign, which aims to secure $5.5 million in donations for Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD). This year marks PiE’s 10 year anniversary of providing funding for essential staff and initiatives to PAUSD. Thanks to donors, last year PiE’s gift to PAUSD was a record $5.3 million plus $150,000 for Teacher grants.
Donations to Palo Alto schools through PiE pay for involved and caring staff at every PAUSD school and grade level, from pre-kindergarten through high school. PiE funding underwrites critical staff at all schools including classroom aides, specialists in science, art, music, reading, and math, student guidance counselors, freshman orientation teams, and college and career counselors. PiE funds also make possible a rich array of electives in the secondary schools such as language, music, marine biology, art, drama, engineering, computer programming, creative writing and industrial tech, plus many more.
“Our community’s vision for its children includes developing each student’s knowledge, and nurturing their curiosity, creativity, and resilience, thus empowering them to reach their fullest potential. PiE’s annual gift ensures we continue vital programs that enhance that vision. The overwhelming generosity of Palo Alto families and the greater community through donations to PiE is greatly appreciated and has been pivotal in supporting the district’s high standards of academic excellence and student wellness,” said Dr. Glenn “Max” McGee, Superintendent.
“Parents, schools, community donors and PiE all work together to strengthen our schools,” said Asha Guha, President of PiE’s Board of Directors. “We are excited to have a $500,000 challenge grant to kick off our 10th year. This grant, made possible by generous PAUSD families and community donors, allows families to double the impact of every contribution” between August 1 and September 5, 2015. “PiE is representative of our entire PAUSD community and we ask you to join us in support of our schools. Every donation makes a difference and is appreciated.”
