Profiles: PiE Staff
PiE is a non-profit educational foundation run by a Board of Directors of dedicated parent and community volunteers with professional expertise in a variety of areas, including fundraising, finance, development, business, and marketing. Strong supporters of Palo Alto’s public schools, PiE Board Members understand that a public education is free, but a great education is not.
Linda Lyon – Executive Director
Linda Lyon has an extensive background in nonprofit fundraising and management. Before joining the team at PiE, Linda lead the South Bay Division of California for the March of Dimes, expanding their fundraising and surpassing revenue targets. When Linda opened the Palo Alto office of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, she worked with technology companies to develop new applications to better locate and protect children and to reduce the risk of exploitation online. She successfully forged partnerships with many companies including Palantir, Google, Facebook, Twitter, MeetMe, Tagged, Stanford University’s School of Engineering and LinkedIn.
Linda spent five years heading the Development Department for Ronald McDonald House at Stanford, growing their budget annually and initiating their $40 million capital campaign. She previously honed her skills at Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties and at AchieveKids, a non-public school for children with severe developmental and emotional disorders.
Before moving into the nonprofit sector, Linda worked in entertainment, technology and fashion, including at her own millinery company.
Emily Jaquette – Deputy Director
Emily Breuner Jaquette was raised in the East Bay, but has lived on the Peninsula for more than 20 years, Palo Alto for 15. She has served as the Auditor and Treasurer for the Palo Verde PTA and served as Treasurer for several other non-profit organizations of which she is or has been a member. Emily’s work career has focused on business systems, enterprise performance management reporting, data warehousing, and analytics — a profession she practiced at Silicon Graphics, Webvan, eBay and most recently Intuit. She has a BA in Economics from Stanford and a MS in Management from MIT.
Dena Seki – Development and Campaign Manager
Dena Seki has been an active volunteer in Palo Alto public schools since 2010. This has included serving four years on the Addison Elementary School PTA executive board in various roles, including co-president.
Prior to moving to Palo Alto, she worked for over ten years in various finance and banking roles. She was a VP/Account Officer for Wells Fargo Foothill and worked in various positions for GE Capital, the most recent being as a Deal Manager. While working for GE Capital, she served as the Elfun Chapter Treasurer and acting Secretary. Elfun is a global organization of GE volunteers.
Dena has a BA in International Politics from Penn State University and a joint MBA/MA from the University of Connecticut. She lives in Palo Alto with her husband and son.
