Profiles: Board of Directors

PiE is a non-profit educational foundation run by a Board of Directors of dedicated parent and community volunteers with professional expertise in a variety of areas, including fundraising, finance, development, business, and marketing. Strong supporters of Palo Alto’s public schools, PiE Board Members understand that a public education is free, but a great education is not.

Kamal Ardeshna – President

Kamal Ardeshna has been an active volunteer at her children’s schools for over 12 years – from elementary through high school. She has served on their elementary school PTA Boards in a variety of roles including VP of Fundraising and VP of Volunteer Services. She has also served on the Greene Middle School and Palo Alto High School PiE teams and been on the PiE Board for 3 years as VP Marketing and Executive Vice President.

Kamal’s professional experience includes working for PepsiCo and Johnson & Johnson. At PepsiCo, she was a Customer Marketing Manager, working with 2 of PepsiCo’s top 4 UK customers on joint marketing plans. At Johnson & Johnson, she was part of the marketing team on the Johnson’s Baby brand, ran the largest customer account in the UK, and managed the UK Market Research team.

Kamal has a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She and her husband have lived in Palo Alto for 8 years and have 2 children – one currently at Greene Middle School and a 2018 graduate of Paly. After living in Chicago and London, they are happy to be settled in the Bay Area, and enjoy spending time outdoors in the beautiful weather.

Kamal Ardeshna

President

Jennifer Antonow – Executive Vice President

Jennifer Antonow has been an active PAUSD volunteer, serving on the PTA and Site Council at Duveneck and the PiE team at Greene. She has two children who attend PAUSD schools.

Jennifer is co-founder of The Strengthen Up Project, a cause focused on preserving and restoring children’s natural biomechanics to prevent pain and injury, while improving psychological outcomes like confidence and performance. She also co-founded Camp Iris Way, a neighborhood summer camp in Palo Alto.

Jennifer’s background is in marketing and consulting. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University.

Jennifer Antonow

Executive Vice President

Victoria Chang – VP of Governance

Victoria Chang and her husband have one child in college and three children in PAUSD schools, two at JLS and one at Gunn, where she is currently a PiE Representative.  She has been a PTA president and an active volunteer at the unit, council, and district levels, in addition to volunteering in the classroom and on site councils. She has also been involved in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and has served on local nonprofit boards.

Victoria has a JD from UC Davis and a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University.

Victoria Chang

VP of Governance

Doug Hagan – VP of Finance & Administration

Doug Hagan works in the technology industry as President of Krytar. Previously he has held leadership positions in marketing with companies in wireless and networking.

Doug has been involved as a volunteer in the classroom and for the PTA as well as a coach and team manager for youth soccer, Palo Alto Little League, and USA Hockey. He is a past Chair of ZeroDivide (formerly Community Technology Foundation of California) and is a Commissioner on the City of Palo Alto Library Advisory Commission.

Doug has lived in Palo Alto since 2008 with his wife, Alison, and their two children who attend Greene Middle School. He is a Leadership Palo Alto alum and holds a BA in Urban Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School.

Doug Hagan

VP of Finance & Administration

Rosanna Jackson – VP of Marketing

Rosanna Jackson is a Bay Area native and so happy to have landed in Palo Alto. Her previous volunteer experience includes several years as PTA Webmaster, Project Cornerstone reader, Site Council member, classroom volunteer and Girl Scout leader.

Professionally, Rosanna worked for 13 years in Marketing at Oracle and various healthcare companies. She is currently the Director of Marketing at an architecture firm. Rosanna holds a B.A. in English from UCLA. She and her husband, Mark, have two children in PAUSD schools.

Rosanna Jackson

VP of Marketing

Elizabeth Olson – VP of Leadership Circle & Community

Elizabeth Olson has been active as a community volunteer for over 25 years, with experience ranging from the Peace Corps to the public schools of New York City to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).  She has a daughter in the Spanish Immersion program at Escondido Elementary, a son at Greene Middle School, and a daughter at The Girls Middle School.  She enjoys volunteering at her children’s schools, and is PTA President at Escondido Elementary and PiE Representative at Greene.  She previously served on the PiE Board as part of the Development team.

Before moving to Palo Alto in 1999, Elizabeth worked as an international economist and portfolio manager in New York and Latin America.  She has degrees from Franklin and Marshall College and Columbia University.

Elizabeth Olson

VP of Leadership Circle & Community

Heewon Park – VP of Schools Development

Heewon Park has been an active volunteer in PAUSD since 2009. She has been a PiE Representative for 7 years at Juana Briones and Fletcher. She also served on the PTA Executive Board for many years at Juana Briones including 2 years as PTA President. She has many years of experience in volunteering for outreach programs, sports teams and choir groups in the community.

Heewon holds BFA in Painting from Seoul National University and MFA in Print Media from Cranbrook Academy of Art. She currently works as a Teaching Artist for Cultural Kaleidoscope Program in Palo Alto Art Center.

Heewon and her husband enjoy being actively involved in their church community and many other community programs They have three children, one at Fletcher and two at Juana Briones.

Heewon Park

VP of Schools Development

Stacy Abel – Director of Development, Leadership Circle & Community

Stacy Abel has been an active volunteer in the community since moving to Palo Alto in 2014. She served for two years as a co-VP of events for the PTA at Walter Hays Elementary School and is a PiE Representative. At Greene Middle School, Stacy has volunteered as the cross country and track coach. Stacy has a three children, one at Walter Hays and two at Greene Middle School. Before moving to California, Stacy and her family lived in Mexico and Illinois.

As a couple, Stacy and her husband have participated in charitable events for New Story, Firelight, PiE, Open Arms for Children, and Casita Linda, a nonprofit in Mexico that builds homes in rural areas. Stacy’s professional experience includes marketing and public relations in the technology sector. Stacy holds a B.A. in Communications and German from Pennsylvania State University.

Stacy Abel

Carole Alvarado – Director of Marketing, Elementary Schools

Carole Alvarado has been an active member of the Duveneck community since her kids entered in 2011. She was a PiE Representative for several years, and has enjoyed volunteering in her children’s classrooms and as a Book Fair Chair. As the daughter of a 6th grade teacher, Carole has always been passionate about education, and about the importance of providing teachers with the support and resources for them to be effective.

In her professional life, Carole has worked in general management and product marketing roles at eBay, several startups, and Apple. She holds a BA from Duke University in Public Policy and Spanish, and an MBA from Stanford University. A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Carole has lived in and around Palo Alto since 1998. She and her husband, Billy, have two children.

Carole Alvarado

Director of Marketing, Elementary Schools

Colleen Backstrand – Director of Development, Leadership Circle & Community

Colleen Backstrand grew up in Palo Alto and is a graduate of Gunn. After graduating from University of Colorado, Colleen spent 20 years in San Francisco. She and her family moved back to Palo Alto to send their 2 children to Walter Hays, her husband’s alma mater.

Colleen spent 20 years working in marketing in San Francisco for major retail campaigns, The Gap, Pottery Barn and Wells Fargo Bank. During that time she spent time involved in her community by serving on the Auxiliary Board of Edgewood and on the Board of Youth Speaks.

For the past five years, Colleen has been an active school volunteer serving in various positions including as the Walter Hays PTA Co-president. Most recently, she supported PiE as the Walter Hays PiE Representative.

When not busy with her family, Colleen loves to spent time building her interior design business and hiking with her dog.

Colleen Backstrand

Director of Development, Leadership Circle & Community

Lucinda Brommersma – Director of Marketing, Visual Communications

Lucinda Brommersma has been an active volunteer in her daughters’ schools since 2010 when she relocated with her family from Ottawa, Canada, to Palo Alto. Starting at El Carmelo as a classroom volunteer and active member of the PTA, she then moved on to serve as the PTA Treasurer and VP of Fundraising.

Lucinda remains a committed volunteer at The Girls’ Middle School, helping in a variety of different areas, most recently as a co-chair of their annual Scholarship Breakfast fundraiser and as a member of the organizing committee for the seventh grade Entrepreneurial Night. Lucinda is passionate about supporting her girls in all their activities and has volunteered with their Girl Scout troops and served as Treasurer for a club soccer team. She has been an active volunteer in other areas including the Women’s Startup Lab and Bay Area Cancer Connections.

Lucinda currently works in marketing management, focusing on strategic alliances and business development. She has a B.A. in Political Science from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. Her daughters are in sixth and eighth grade at The Girls’ Middle School and tenth grade at Gunn.

Lucinda Brommersma

Director of Marketing, Visual Communications

Sarah Cornwell – Campaign Director of Elementary Schools

Sarah Cornwell, her husband Trevor, and their daughter Maggie moved to Palo Alto in 2009 from Washington, DC. Maggie attends JLS and is a graduate of El Carmelo Elementary.

Sarah is originally from Ashland, Kentucky. She has a B.A. from Vanderbilt University and an M.S. from George Mason University.

Sarah Cornwell is the Executive Director of the Elizabeth F. Gamble Garden in Palo Alto. Gamble Garden is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing a community resource for horticultural education, inspiration and enjoyment, and maintaining the Palo Alto historic Gamble house and garden.

Prior to Gamble Garden, Sarah worked in the technology field at Ernst and Young for several years before opening her own boutique retail business in Washington, DC. She came to the Bay Area to work as Director of Marketing at appbackr.

She is a co-founder of Forum280, a group whose goal is to apply Silicon Valley thinking to political and social issues.

Sarah Cornwell

Campaign Director of Elementary Schools

Chris Flynn – Director of Development, Leadership Circle & Community

Chris Flynn has been an active PAUSD and community volunteer since moving to Palo Alto in 2013. He his currently the President of the El Carmelo PTA where both of his children attend school.

Prior to 2013, Chris and his family lived in the Boston, MA, area where he worked in institutional and private wealth management. Chris holds a BA in History from George Mason University and completed graduate studies in History at The University of Melbourne.

Chris has been a life-long competitive rower, but has also recently begun competing in triathlons. He also enjoys coaching and has done so at the youth, junior, collegiate, and masters levels.

Chris Flynn

Heather Gaillard – Campaign Director of Kindergarten

Heather Gaillard has been an active volunteer in Palo Alto public schools since 2013, engaging regularly in her children’s classrooms and serving as one of Fairmeadow Elementary’s PiE representatives. She has two children attending Fairmeadow, one in third grade and one in kindergarten.

She also has a broad base of volunteer experience, previously serving as Co-Chair of the OFJCC Preschool Parent Council and Marketing Board Chair for PAMP (Palo Alto Menlo Park Parents’ Club). She currently serves on the Board of Stanford ACT (Stanford Business School’s Alumni Consulting Team).

Heather’s professional experience includes serving in a variety of strategy and marketing executive roles. She was previously the Director of Marketing at Target Corporation in Minneapolis, overseeing marketing for consumer goods and grocery. Prior to that, she was a Director of Marketing and a Director of Strategy for eBay. She began her post graduate career at McKinsey & Company in San Francisco. Heather holds a BA in English from the University of Virginia and an MBA from Stanford.

Heather lives in Palo Alto with her husband Ben and their two children.

Heather Gaillard

Campaign Director of Kindergarten

Charu Gupta – Director of Development, Leadership Circle & Community

Charu Gupta has a passion for education and community. Her education includes a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Waterloo and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business. She is also a licensed California Real Estate Broker. She has 25+ years of experience in industry in Engineering, Consulting, Product Management, and Engineering Program Management working at Tech startups and companies like Symantec, Google, and Facebook. She’s working on her 4th career now in real estate development and has a passion for modern architecture and takes great pride of authorship over the design and construction of her family’s home in Midtown.

Since her days in undergrad, Charu’s always been an active volunteer and leader in school and community organizations. She’s recently served on the Executive Board of the Digital Moose Lounge, the organization serving the ~200K Canadian ex-pats living in the Bay Area, and has held numerous roles within the Palo Alto community including PTA President of Hoover, VP Parent Ed for PTAC, After School Program Coordinator, STEAM Advisory Council Member, and Auction Chair.

Charu has two daughters—a rising 9th grader at Paly and a rising 6th grader at JLS. Her husband, Ajay Gandhi, is a VP of Product Marketing at Shape Security.

Charu Gupta

Husna Hashmi – Campaign Director of Secondary Schools

Husna Hashmi has been an active PAUSD and community volunteer for well over a decade. Her commitment to education and as a volunteer began with the enrollment of her children in elementary school. She’s enjoyed spending time as a classroom volunteer, accompanying children on field trips and serving as a room parent. Over the years, she’s been a Girl Scout treasurer, Hoover PiE (Partners in Education) Chair, in addition to, dedicating several years as a Project Cornerstone’s ABC (Asset Building Champion) reader in elementary classrooms.

Husna has been a committed volunteer with All Students Matter, a local non-profit established to help Ravenswood City School District students improve their academic performance. Through this organization, she tutored and mentored fourth grade students on literacy skills and math fluency. She has been a PiE Chair at Greene Middle School and at Palo Alto High School, along with serving on PiE’s Board as a campaign director of secondary schools. A keen interest in whole child (academic and social) development lead her to join the Palo Alto Council of PTA as a SEL (Social Emotional Learning) Co-Chair. In moving forward with this effort, she looks to bring parent engagement and awareness of SEL at each school site in PAUSD.

Aside from her school volunteering commitment, Husna is extensively involved in organizing faith-based community events, devotes time to community service and interfaith work. She holds a B.S. in Nutrition (concentration in Dietetics) with a minor in Chemistry and is an active mom of three.

Joy Hinton – Director of Governance, Generalist

Joy Hinton has been an active volunteer in PAUSD since moving to Palo Alto in 2006, having volunteered at Briones, Fletcher and Gunn. She previously served as the President of the Fletcher PTA and President and Executive Vice President of the Gunn PTA. Currently, Joy is one of the PTAC E-News Co-Chairs.

In her professional life, Joy has worked as a securities law attorney in New York and California. She holds an A.B. from Harvard College and a J.D. from Tulane University School of Law. Joy and her husband, Andrew, have two children—a current Fletcher 7th grader and a 2016 graduate of Gunn.

Joy Hinton

Brette Hudacek – Director of Marketing, Secondary Schools

Brette Hudacek has been an active community volunteer for the past decade. From Girl Scout Troop leadership to serving on the Mothers Symposium Board, her experience ranges from working with young women to developing and promoting community events for all members of the community. She has served many years on the Walter Hays PTA Board including as Co-President. In addition, Brette has enjoyed being a PIE Representative for both Walter Hays Elementary and Greene Middle School where her two daughters attend school.

After graduating from Brown University with an ScB in Engineering, Brette spent 12 years working for DPR Construction where she wore many hats from Project Engineer to Business Analyst. In addition, she has a deep passion for sleep-away camp and recently fulfilled her dream of going back to camp as a counselor.

Brette Hudacek

Sophia Lee – Treasurer, Director of Finance & Administration

Sophia Lee started her professional career at Arthur Andersen LLP in both the Taiwan and San Jose offices, where she provided auditing and consulting services to manufacturing and high tech companies. After 5 years working as an auditor at a public accounting firm, Sophia served as Controller and VP of Finance at various high tech companies. She is currently Operations Controller at Riverwood Capital Management.

In addition to volunteering in the classroom, Sophia serves on the Boards of 2 local nonprofit organizations.

Sophia is an inactive CPA in the State of California. She is originally from Taiwan and emigrated to Palo Alto in 1997. She and her husband, Julian, have a 4th grade daughter at Ohlone and a daughter in college, who attended Ohlone, JLS, and Paly.

Sophia Lee

Treasurer, Director of Finance & Administration

Shabnam Parang – Assistant Treasurer, Director of Finance & Administration

Shabnam Parang has been an active volunteer in the Nixon Elementary community for the past few years, currently serving a term as the PTA treasurer.

For the past decade, Shabnam worked as a Business Development Trade Commissioner at the Consulate General of Canada in Silicon Valley, where she focused on facilitating partnership opportunities as well as venture capital investments between Canadian and Silicon Valley tech communities, worked with Silicon Valley companies in opening offices in Canada, and contributed to the advancement of trade policy in the technology industry between Canada and Silicon Valley.

Previously, as a Canadian Chartered Accountant, Shabnam worked in the corporate tax practice of KPMG in Vancouver, Canada, where she focused on Mergers and Acquisitions in the Tech and Entertainment sectors.

Shabnam holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and is a Canadian Chartered Accountant.

Shabnam lives in Los Altos Hills with her husband, Touraj, and their two daughters, Sophia and Siena, and they relish the beautiful Bay Area living.

Shabnam Parang

Sudeshna Raha – Campaign Director of Elementary Schools

Sudeshna Raha has always valued education and has spent many hours in the last decade volunteering at her kids’ schools. Be it helping kids with Math at Math Lab or crafts in Spectra Art, she found time to balance her full-time work with her volunteering interests. Sudeshna has also been a longtime representative for PiE, serving on the PiE teams for Walter Hays Elementary, Greene Middle, and Palo Alto High Schools.

Sudeshna’s professional experience ranges from being a Principal at a Strategy Consulting firm, Booz Allen Hamilton (now Strategy&, part of PWC), to General Manager of Wells Fargo Bank’s Wholesale Online Banking Portal, and now Product Marketing at Apple.

Sudeshna has a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, a Post Graduate Degree in Management from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, and a MBA from the McCombs School of Business, UT Austin. She lives with her husband and two children in Palo Alto and enjoys international travel, food, hiking, and backpacking in the beautiful California outdoors. Sudeshna is also interested in theatre and performs in amateur plays.

Sudeshna Raha

Campaign Director of Elementary Schools

Kanwal Raza – Campaign Director of Elementary Schools

Kanwal Raza is a computer scientist by education and an entrepreneur at heart. She is the founder of MamaDigest.com, a one stop shop for moms offering best resources on a variety of topics. Kanwal was also a Co-Founder of KidSenz, an animated current news video website for elementary school kids. She holds a BS in Computer Science and a minor in Economics from Rutgers University and has completed a certification program in Finance and Accounting from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.  She has worked for PiE as a Representative since 2011 and is a very involved mom who loves to actively volunteer in the school for various activities and positions. She has three kids in the Palo Alto school district, who have attended El Carmelo and Hoover.

Kanwal is passionate about the intersection of technology, business and kids education, and her personal and professional activities have been consistently centered around these themes.

Kanwal Raza

Campaign Director of Elementary Schools

Robyn Reiss – Director of Development, Leadership Circle & Community

Robyn Reiss is passionate about education, both for her kids and all children. She is a PiE Co-Representative and the Site Council Chair at El Carmelo, as well as a volunteer for various El Carmelo events, such as, her favorite (being the tech nerd she is!), Family Engineering Day.

In her professional life, Robyn worked everywhere from the Golden State Warriors (when they weren’t as good as they are now), to the Economic Development Corporation for the Mayor of New York City, to being the founding COO of Summit Preparatory High School, to Google. Most recently, she worked at Facebook, where she ran platform policy and then had a blast running internal communications. She is currently dreaming up a nonprofit to use technology to solve a problem for people in the developing world. She is also currently on the board of Trellis Education, which is developing exceptional middle and high school STEM teachers in California.

A native of Long Island, New York, Robyn moved to the Bay Area in 1997 never to look back! She has a Computer Science degree from Harvard University and an MBA from Stanford. She and her husband, David, have a son in preschool and a son at El Carmelo, where they couldn’t be happier.

Robyn Reiss

Leena Sansguiri – Campaign Director of Secondary Schools

Leena Sansguiri has two children attending schools in the Palo Alto School District. She has spent time volunteering in various roles at Preschool Family, Ohlone Elementary and Greene Middle School.

Prior to having children, Leena spent years working as an Engineer in the Silicon Valley. She received a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from UC Berkeley and a Masters from Stanford. She has been a resident of Palo Alto for more than twenty years.

Leena Sansguiri

Campaign Director of Secondary Schools

Kirstin Sego – Director of Marketing, Communications

Kirstin Sego is parent to two PAUSD students (Greene and Ohlone) and step-parent to a Paly grad (graduating 2017). She grew up in Menlo Park, and moved back to Palo Alto over ten years ago when she was starting a family.

Her early career in educational publishing transitioned to managing content and content products for now-defunct search engines Excite and Alta Vista, and later for the web properties of the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Since then, she has become an active volunteer in her children’s schools, including leadership positions at Parents Nursery School and at Ohlone, where she chaired the Site Council and the biannual PTA auction.

Kirstin holds an undergraduate degree in literature and translation theory from Pomona College. She loves to read, hike, and plan elaborate international travel for her family.

Kirstin Sego

Patrick Sullivan – Director of Finance, PiE Innovation Grants

Patrick is the father of three children in Palo Alto Public Schools and is an avid supporter of public education and children’s welfare. This year, Patrick served as a PiE Rep for Barron Park Elementary.

Patrick has over 20 years of experience in the Staffing and Human Resources field. Patrick currently serves as a Staffing Manager supporting Research & Engineering recruitment at Google, leading teams to map, source and hire the world’s top computer science talent. Prior to joining Google, Patrick held a variety of global HR and Staffing leadership roles at both Microsoft and Amazon. He has a B.S. in Psychology from Michigan State University.

Patrick Sullivan

Director of Finance, PiE Innovation Grants

Kristina Toland – Director of Development, Leadership Circle & Community

Kristina Toland has been an active volunteer in Palo Alto schools for the last decade. Her favorite role is helping with math in the classroom, which she has done since her three children were in kindergarten. She has also served on the Board at Friends Nursery School, the PTA at Ohlone Elementary, and most recently as a PiE Representative at Escondido Elementary.

Kristina’s professional background is in tax and finance. She attended UC Berkeley as an undergraduate and holds a J.D./M.B.A. from USF. She has held various positions in tax and financial planning, and currently works part-time on accounting and finance projects.

Kristina and her husband, Patrick, both grew up in the area and have lived in Palo Alto for almost 20 years. Currently they have a son in second grade in Spanish Immersion at Escondido, a seventh grade daughter at Castilleja, and a ninth grade daughter at Paly. They have given up their weekends to their children’s never-ending series of sports activities, and enjoy traveling as a family.

Kristina Toland

Yael Valek – Director of Marketing, Impact and Donor Relations

Yael Valek has been an active volunteer in Palo Alto public schools since 2014, including 3 years on the PTA Board. She has one 3rd grader at Palo Verde and an incoming kinder.

In her professional life, Yael was on the founding team of two startups serving children and parents. She also worked in product management at Yahoo and BabyCenter. She holds a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University. Yael has lived in Palo Alto since 1985 and attended Palo Verde, JLS, and Gunn herself!

Yael Valek

Bruce Woodley – Secretary, Director of Governance

Bruce Woodley grew up in Vancouver, Canada, and moved to Palo Alto in 1993 to pursue graduate studies. He has founded and participated in a number of startups over a broad range of industries, including UAVs (drones), telecom, enterprise software, medical robotics, sensors for autonomous vehicles, and autonomous laser eye surgery. He was a finalist in the 2009 Canadian Astronaut selection.

A long time competitive bagpipe player, he has volunteered as an instructor/leader for a San Francisco-based youth bagpipe band, taking the group to compete at the annual World Championships in Scotland from 1996-2001. He has enjoyed volunteering in the classroom in elementary school, but had limited success in getting the kids to laugh at his puns. He is passionate that diverse life experiences, such as those promoted by PiE, are important in developing creative, flexible, and energetic children.

Bruce has 2 children (JLS, El Carmelo), is a husband, and spends his free time riding bikes, running, and flying small airplanes with his family. He holds a BASc in Engineering Physics from Simon Fraser University, and MS/Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford.

Jingjing Xu – Director of Development, Leadership Circle & Community

Jingjing Xu first came to the United States for graduate studies at UC Santa Cruz. She’s passionate about making education fun and effective. She has been a PiE Representative at Walter Hays and been actively involved in helping new Chinese families integrate into the school and community.

After a long career in the tech industry, including managing a mobile chip design team at Broadcom, Jingjing now works for a company that links Chinese and U.S. businesses.

Jingjing and her husband have a 7 and 9 year old. They took almost a year off in 2014 to travel through North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. She thinks the homeschooling experience gave her a greater appreciation for the hard work our teachers do!
